Kana Matsuri is aimed at helping you learning reading, writing and speaking Japanese. The app proposes you to learn Japanese hiragana and katakana alphabets (or more precisely syllabaries as Japanese characters represent syllables) through puzzle games and some other activities.

The writing pad
The Kana Matsuri writing pad allows you to learn and grain writing Japanese characters from the hiragana and katakana syllabaries. It provides a grid to help you properly balancing the characters as well as a static and animated guide.
Here are some more details:
The writing pad provides all the necessary elements to learn writing hiragana and katakana:
- grid lines to properly balance the shape of the character,
- the character shape, which can be hidden, to give you the overall look of the character,
- character stroke animation to help you learn the proper character’s stroke order,
- and an eraser to allow you erasing and perfecting your strokes.
