Japanese Lesson – Hiragana 4

Hello Everyone,

We’ve already seen 15 hiragana, ready for 5 more? Today we are going to learn characters: たちつてと. Let’s go!

15 hiragana, we start to be able to write quite a few words with these, but do you remember them correctly?

If not, don’t hesitate to practice again the exercises from these lessons.

Hiragana た to の

This hiragana is pronounced: [ta]

It has 3 strokes:

 

Exercices:

  • Write 10 times the character た in a row.
  • Write 5 times the word かた [kata] / shoulder /
  • Write 5 times the word たかい [takai] / high, tall, expensive /

This hiragana is pronounced: [chi]

It has 2 strokes:

 

Note: Take care not to confuse ち [chi] with さ [sa]!

Exercices:

  • Write 10 times the character ち in a row.
  • Write 5 times the word ちかい [chikai] / near (adj) /
  • Write 5 times the word くち [kuchi] / mouth /

This hiragana is pronounced: [tsu]

It has 1 stroke:

 

Exercices:

  • Write 10 times the character つ in a row.
  • Write 5 times the word つくえ [tsukue] / desk (fourniture) /
  • Write 5 times the word あつい [atsui] / hot (temperature), intense (feeling) /

This hiragana is pronounced: [te]

It has 1 stroke:

 

Exercices:

  • Write 10 times the character て in a row
    Note: て [te] means / hand /
  • Write 5 times the word ちかてつ [chikatetsu] / underground train, subway /

This hiragana is pronounced: [to]

It has 2 strokes:

 

Exercices:

  • Write 10 times the character と in a row.
  • Write 5 times the word とけい [tokei] / watch, clock /
  • Write 5 times the word そと [soto] / outside /
