This katakana is pronounced: や

It has 2 strokes:

Note: Take care not to confuse this character with ア [あ] or マ [ま].

Exercices:

• Write 10 times the character ヤ in a row.
• Write 5 times the word  タイヤ / tire/tyre /.
• Write 5 times the word  ダイヤ / dia(mond) /.

ユ

This katakana is pronounced: ゆ

It has 2 strokes:

ヨ

This katakana is pronounced: よ

It has 3 strokes:

Half width ヤユヨ: ャュョ

Again, as for hiragana, there exists halfwidth versions of the characters ヤ, ユ and ヨ that can be used in combination with the characters キ, ギ, シ, ジ, チ, ニ, ヒ, ビ, ピ, ミ, リ [り] to form new syllables:
